Mood of a wedding
These are some of my favourite photos from one of the coolest weddings I have been too, Jess and Tom. Firstly I am not a wedding photographer, I would just say I like to take photos and was really lucky to have been asked to shoot this wedding. I knew it would be a great wedding to shoot because of the couple. There are few weddings I have been too that are this relaxed. Relaxed in a way that it felt like the whole place was full of their very best friends. That everyone there had a significant part to play in the story of Jess and Tom and throughout the whole day and night you got to see, hear and feel this play out. A party like this of any type I think would make for a great photo shoot. The fact that was a wedding of friends made it just that bit more special.
These first two photos are the very cool, the very lovely, the very hipster, they very surfers and most importantly the very best friends, the wedding party
These next few shots were taken directly after the ceremony. Jess has some great ideas of what she wanted and I think we got pretty close to that image.
The first was just capturing a moment as we moved between locations. I love the background stories that you can capture with a camera. Those candid moments that can’t be set up but just happen.
This shot was taken in a natural arch way of old gum trees creating their own cathedral like structure. Tom added the swing which adds an elegance and a sense of this natural setting being used but not abused by adding unnecessary structures. The best that man and woman can make is nothing compared to simple complexity of nature.
This shot is the money shot, Jess was really clear what she wanted and I am glad to say we got it.
This next shot Jess was taken while Tom was giving his speech.
This shot was nothing but fluke as the bride and groom were stepping down from their speeches they crossed in front of me and I thought I maybe able to grab a shot as they exited the stage.
These next photos are some of my absolute favourite ones. They were completely unplanned. There was this amazingly lit jetty which I thought would make for great photos and after the formalities of the night Tom took Jess for a short walk and a private talk. I was lucky I had the right gear that allowed these shots without disrupting what was a very special moment.
These last shots were pretty much the last shots of the night the, bridal dance. I think they speak volumes of how this couple feel about each other.
